Manufactured in the USA and Canada since 1917, Qualatex® and AdRite™ latex balloons are biodegradable and photodegradable. When you see a clear balloon start to “fog” when in the sun, you are seeing it beginning to oxidize and photodegrade. The rate of degradation is highly variable as it’s influenced bymany variables such as temperature, the amount of light, the presence of latex consuming microbes, etc.
Pioneer Line’s natural products promote a healthy ecosystem in a variety of ways:
- Research shows latex balloons biodegrade at about the same rate as an oak leaf.
- Latex harvesting “taps” rubber trees safely to create Pioneer Line balloons.
- Latex harvesting combats global warming by reducing carbon dioxide from the air.
- Latex products help prevent deforestation by making rubber trees economically valuable.
